A Great Tool for Any Leader – Wunderlist

I have been using Wunderlist for about a year now and it has revolutionized the way I am able to lead people – and I’m not even being paid to say that!  It truly has…

The people that I lead include an IT Director, Administrative Assistant, Graphics Designer, and Maintenance Director.  And I use Wunderlist with all of them!

Simply put, Wunderlist is a to-do list that is share-able and easily use-able on any of your electronic devices.

So, I use it for my own to-do list.  For example, I’ll get an assignment during a meeting and I’m able to add it to my personal to-do list immediately and assign a due date. And, for my personal use, I’ve set up a to-do list for blogging and other areas of my life to help keep me organized.

For those that I lead, it has enabled me (and them) to add things to their to-do list so that important tasks do not get missed.  We can do that when we’re on a walk around the building looking for maintenance items to address.  We can do that when we’re in a meeting as assignments are being given.  We can do that during our one-on-one, weekly meetings.  I can add things as I’m woken from a deep sleep in the middle of the night. I can put assignments on the list for someone to address when they return from a day off or even add them as I am away on a work trip.

It has taken some time to train the team on the use of Wunderlist, but the time we’ve spent on getting us all used to using it regularly has paid off many times over.  It has actually become a ‘game’ with my Maintenance Director where he has made it his goal to get his Wunderlist down to zero items (but I keep adding things, so he hasn’t quite realized that goal just yet).

So, check it out and let me know!  What other tools do you find helpful in your leadership?  Post them below…
