ABOUT ME
My name is Tim Parsons and I am an ordained minister with over 15 years of experience marrying couples who are ready to take the step of marriage. My weddings are simple, meaningful & focused on YOU. I also offer a Christian-based marital assessment (SYMBIS) that will help you and your spouse understand one another better and get your marriage off on the right foot.
TESTIMONIALS
“Tim was the perfect person to officiate our wedding! He arrived early, spoke clear, was professional and didn’t stumble. We had a meeting beforehand to go over all the details and he performed everything perfectly. Highly recommend!”
~ D. Ortiz, Bride
“Tim did a great job! It was our first experience and we couldn’t have ask for a better person to do it!
~ K. Lee, Groom
“Tim was an amazing officiant. We had the best experience having him in our wedding. Our ceremony was exactly what I had imagined and everything I had hoped for!”
~ C. Terry, Bride
WHAT IS SYMBIS?
For an additional fee, I can offer the SYMBIS assessment for you and your spouse. The SYMBIS is an evidenced based report created to fit your specific relationship. SYMBIS stands for Saving Your Marriage Before It Starts! SYMBIS assessment is designed for those who are newly engaged or couples who are within the first 2 years of marriage. The SYMBIS is a great tool for premarital education and counseling that can help you in maintaining those wonderful feelings you have been experiencing during your engagement process. The SYMBIS report can promote insight and guide you on your premarital journey. The SYMBIS is also compatible for those who may be remarrying, and the report provides extra materials to help you transition into your new marriage in a healthy way. The SYMBIS provides an initial 30-minute online assessment, where each partner answers individual questions about themselves and the relationship. A 16 page report is then created based on the findings in both you and your partners assessments.
HOW DO WE GET MARRIED?
You can not be legally married without a marriage license. ALL you need to be married is a signed marriage license and a simple “I do”. Everything else is up to you!
I get so many questions about marriage licenses. I’m a wedding officiant. I don’t issue marriage licenses. Your county clerk does. There are state websites and county websites with the information you need.
The first thing you need to do is apply for your marriage license. EVERYONE needs to apply for their marriage license online. You can use your own computer or the computers in the clerk’s office. FYI – a phone doesn’t work. You need to use a PC. It is faster if you apply online before you go. There are computers in the Clerk’s office that you can use. There is one marriage license application for the state of Indiana. Click here to access the application.
You can not obtain your marriage license in the closest county to you and then go to another county in Indiana to get married.
You need to prove who you are. You can do that with a valid drivers license, state issued ID, Passport, or Birth Certificate. All forms of ID need to be in English. So, if you don’t have a drivers license or passport your birth certificate must be in English or a notarized translation of the original document. You need proof of address. You can do this with a valid drivers license, lease, or utility bill. As long as you both have a valid driver’s license and one of them has your correct address – the address you used to apply for your marriage license – that’s all you need.
You will be asked to present your ID and provide the last for digits of your social security number so they can bring up your application online. You do not have to have your social security card. If you are not a US resident and don’t have a social security number, it’s OK. You can still get married. They can bring the application up without it.
Your Indiana marriage license is good for 60 days. If you don’t get married within that 60 days you will need to get another one, and you will need to pay again.
